In no particular order...

Things that growing up in Cleveland has made me suspicious of:
-When my dentist refers me to specialists in this building. Did he put a hit out on me?
-Steelers fans
-Pittsburgh in general
-This guy

-And this guy

-TV hosts. Have you not seen the CLE episode of No Reservations?
-Sports team owners
-People who don't like pierogies
-Santa from A Christmas Story
I'll take Mr. Jingeling all day over that guy

-Anything from Marc's
-Nice weather in December. This can mean that we will actually have a mild winter, or it could mean that it will be snowing in May.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

There might not be snow on the ground yet in Cleveland, but lights and decorations are up. I went to Winterfest on Saturday and spent all day in and around Public Square. I finally made it up to the observation deck of the Terminal Tower, and the view was incredible.

We checked out the Cleveland Public Library, which is beautiful inside, watched the Ohio State game on big screens in the middle of Public Square, and saw the toy soldier show at Tower City (still scary).

Then, we stood outside in the freezing cold (because we are Clevelanders and that is what we do) to watch fireworks in the MIDDLE OF PUBLIC SQUARE. The way Cleveland does fireworks for the lighting ceremony and the 4th of July (same spot) is one of my favorite things about this city.

I also spent some terrifying time on a ladder decorating my office today.

Coming up this weekend, fireworks at Disney World!

November in CLE

Fall is my absolute favorite season, although it can be fairly unpredictable in CLE. This past weekend, it was in the upper 60's, and today it's snowing.

To take advantage of the unexpected weather, I dragged my boyfriend out to the Rocky River Metroparks on Saturday. As usual, we watched a ton of people fishing and wondered what they thought they were going to catch. We wandered around the marina, then decided to get adventurous and explore the other spots further down the road. We didn't have to go much further to find a great spot to take some bridge photos.

Sunday was another beautiful day. We decided, along with everyone else in CLE, to head to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. The animals seemed to be enjoying the sunshine too: one of the koala bears was outside, the kangaroos were boxing, the Grizzly bears were swimming, and this guy made an appearance.

We rounded out the evening in Gordon Square with dinner at Stone Mad Pub and ice cream at Sweet Moses. If you haven't been to Sweet Moses yet, what are you waiting for? It's an old-fashioned soda fountain that serves up homemade ice cream, yummy popcorn, and delicious candy treats.

This week has been spent recovering from the storm. My office has been part of the city with power, so we have been functioning as a space that the community can come to for power, heat, internet, and office needs.

Longer post to come. In the meantime, take a look at my beautiful city:

Houndstooth

I am such a sucker for anything houndstooth. I have a houndstooth coat that is about 2 sizes too big and missing a button, but I still wear it. I have houndstooth stockings, houndstooth scarves, and yesterday, I added houndstooth pants to the mix.

I went to Kohl's with the intention of using gifted Kohl's Cash and merchandise credits from my boyfriend and my mom to buy a pair of khakis. I hate khakis. I hate the way they fit, I hate their weird pockets, I hate that they get wrinkled. But I do like the idea of looking a little more casual in my casual office. So I went to Kohl's, determined to buy them.

As I was picking up every pair of khakis they had to try on (that is the level of determination we are talking about here), I happened upon a rack of straight-leg crop pants, and these brown houndstooth beauties were right out front. They looked pretty good on, so I figured what the heck? They can break up my black and gray wardrobe and make me laugh at the same time.

Of course, I'm wearing them with a black cardigan.

Brand New Blog

Last night, in a conversation with my boyfriend about what to wear to an event over the weekend, I said, "Why are we even having this conversation? We both know I am just going to end up wearing a cardigan."\

And that is how this blog got started.

My cardigan obsession started in 1999. Remember the late 90's twin sets? Now, imagine a 13 year old wearing twin sets from Dots. Unfortunate. And probably one of the reasons my boyfriend has dubbed me "queen of the weirdies" during junior high.

Fast forward 13 years, and I'm still wearing cardigans. I like to think I've got the hang of dressing like an adult. Well, it's either that or I look like a complete idiot every day and no one has the heart to tell me.
